Privacy Notice

Create Makerspace Society (BC Society S0074123) operates the Create Public Art program. This notice explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in accordance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What We Collect

• Account information: your email address (used for authentication)
• Profile information: name, bio, skills, profile photo (optional)
• Program selections: interests, project preferences, festival interests, skill class signups, tier selection
• Emergency contact: name and phone number of your designated emergency contact
• Waiver acceptance: timestamp and version of your waiver agreement

Why We Collect It

• To manage your participation in the Create Public Art program
• To facilitate team formation and project coordination
• To track skill class enrollment and capacity
• To contact you with program updates and safety information
• To maintain emergency contact information for makerspace safety

Who Can See Your Information

• Program administrators (Aaron Rosenberg, Oscar Radewski, Clea Young) can see all participant data
• Other participants can only see your profile if you choose to share it (opt-in). Shared profiles show: name, bio, skills, and photo. Your email is never shared.
• We do not sell or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes

Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored on servers operated by Fly.io in Toronto, Canada. Email delivery is handled by our SMTP provider. All connections are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.

Design Public Art signups

If you enter your email address on our home page, we store it, plus anything else you chose to add: your name, whether you are in the Sea to Sky corridor or elsewhere, and a note about what you would like to make.

We use it to remind you before each evening in the series, and for occasional notes about the program. That is all. This list is not public — it cannot be read from the website by anyone, including other participants, and we do not share or sell it.

Ask us at any time and we will remove you.

How Long We Keep It

Create Public Art 2026 participant records. Retained for the duration of the 2026 program and its grant reporting period, and deleted or anonymized by December 31, 2026, unless you request earlier deletion.

Design Public Art signups. Kept until you ask to be removed, or until the 2027 program cycle closes — whichever comes first. These are held separately from the 2026 records and on a different schedule, because the list exists to tell you about upcoming events.

Your Rights

• 2026 participants can view and edit their information through the participant dashboard at any time
• For Design Public Art signups there is no dashboard — email us and we will read back, correct, or delete what we hold
• You can toggle your profile visibility on or off at any time
• You can request deletion of your account by contacting us
• You can request a copy of your personal data

Emergency Contact Information

By providing your emergency contact's name and phone number, you confirm that you have their permission to share this information with us for safety purposes.
